Why is it so important to keep the oxygen sensor in top form?
The oxygen sensor is one of the indispensable components of every vehicle’s emission control system. Aside from that catalytic converter, the oxygen sensor also plays a crucial role in reducing the amount of toxic contained in exhaust gases.
How does the oxygen sensor do it? Well, this emission control system device simply determines the amount of oxygen content in the exhaust emission. It identifies whether the fuel mixture is too lean or too rich. When the mixture is too rich, there’s more fuel being injected in the engine cylinder. And when the mixture is too lean, there’s insufficient supply of fuel.
Too lean or too rich mixture is bad for the engine because it can lead to formation of various air pollutants. This is the reason why a reliable oxygen sensor is provided in the every automobile so if there’s discrepancy in the distribution of air and fuel mixture, the engine management computer will be informed right away. Hence, the mixture control solenoid can adjust the amount of fuel being injected in the engine cylinder.

summer vacation adventure - to travel by air or by a vehicle?
I was browsing though the net when I come across with a site, http://www.carcare.org/ in particularly, discussing about the better deal of conventional summer family vacation. In the posted write-up, it says that having a traditional family summer vacation by vehicle is still better than riding in an airplane. Despite the continuous increase of gas prices, riding in a vehicle is still wise plane tickets is becoming more expensive. Aside from that, there are fewer daily flights so you cannot reach in your destination right away if you will travel by air. Airplanes have limited space for cargo so you can carry also limited baggage.
The Car Care Council conducted a study comparing the cost of travel by air and by a vehicle. A family of four traveling 1,000 miles round-trip is made as a sample for its study. The result of the survey shows that traveling by air spend them an average of spend an average of $1,324 for tickets. This is based on the 2007 fourth quarter statistics from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. However airline ticket prices have increased a reported ten times since Aside from ticket price, they are also required to pa for transportation to and from the airport and/or parking.
Meanwhile, when they ride in a vehicle, they would spend only about $343. That is if the gasoline price is $5 per gallon. In $343 of American Automobile Association’s vehicle operating cost, this doesn’t not only include the cost of gasoline but tire wear and maintenance as well.
Another advantage on traveling by a vehicle is that you can leave anytime you want. You won’t be bothered whether you leave too early or too late. You’ll be saved from airport parking. You don’t need to line up in a long ticket counter nor security lines. There’s no weather delay. You can still travel even during inclement weather condition provided your car is equipped with dependable safety devices such as fog lights and windshield wiper, among others. If you are already stressed, you can stop and relax for a while. The SUV provides you also with more legroom and overall comfort so you can enjoy your ride. Lastly, there’s no stranger sitting next to you.
So, if you want to spend less on your summer adventure, considering riding in your SUV instead of plane.

important things to keep in mind when upgrading the interior lights with LED or neon ones
One of the auto contraptions that are open for customization is the lights. We see them on installed both in the interior and exterior parts of your driving machine. Such devices are designed to provide us the best quality of illumination we need especially during poor visibility condition. Aside from that, some of the vehicle’s lights can be used for aesthetic purposes.
Yes, we can improve our vehicle’s styling using its lighting device. And how can we do it? Simply upgrade the stock lights with LED or Neon lights. If we want to make our vehicle’s interior more appealing, installing it with LED or Neon interior car lights is on one of the best things we can do.
Installation of LED or Neon car interior lights is pretty easy and fast. In fact, we can even do the task alone provided we have the basic skills and tools. Here are some important things to keep in mind if we plan to upgrade our stock interior lights with LED or Neon ones.
LED or Neon car interior lights usually appear in tubes. And the best place to mount them is under dash, above where your feet go. However, make sure they are high enough so that the tubes won’t be kicked by your feet.
If you will manually install the said component, you will be required to provide it with a switch, a 2way toggle switch will do. Then, install the switch near you for easy access.
In case you prefer to turn it on automatically especially when headlight is on, you will need to tap its wire on the yellow or red wire which is located under the dash. This wire is the one that supplies your vehicle’s headlight with 12V power. Tapping on this wire illuminates your neon light automatically each time you turn on the headlight.
After connecting the wire, it is now time to attach the earth wire coming out from the from your led or neon tubes to the chassis of the vehicle to complete your interior car lighting circuit. As soon as the "power" & "earth" connections are complete, your car interior neon lights will now work. For best result, the earth and power connections should be good. Don’t forget to return all the plastic panels you’ve removed in your vehicle and pack your tools up. Then, start activating your interior car lights and impress your friends on the latest improvements you’ve in your car.
If for instance you find some difficulties in doing the job by yourself, don’t worry. You can still upgrade your interior lights with LED or Neon ones as professional service mechanics are always here to help you. All you need to do is bring your car to a reliable service auto shop.

Is buying a hybrid vehicle the only solution to have a fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly car?
Extra weight in your car can affect its gas mileage. To save on fuel consumption, make sure that you load only necessary things in your car. If you are using your vehicle for work every day, take out all the recreational equipment which is used only during weekends like the golf clubs, bicycle, and tackle boxes, among others. It would be better if you will leave such items in your garage and just load them in your vehicle when the perfect day comes. This can really help improve your vehicle’s fuel economy.
Servicing your vehicle on regular basis is another effective solution to enhance its fuel economy and reduce its emissions. During routine car maintenance, the air intake system, exhaust system, and engine system are just some of the automotive systems that should always be given with quality care and attention. The air intake system supplies the engine with sufficient amount of air so it can effectively burn the fuel. The exhaust system makes sure the harmful exhaust gases are regulated properly before they are released in the air. Also, the oxygen sensor of your vehicle’s exhaust system ensures that the air and fuel mixture inside the engine cylinder is distributed accurately.
Third important thing you should remember if you want to save on money on the gas pump is to avoid aggressive driving. Aggressive driving like stopping and starting abruptly or driving too fast will no only heighten your fuel consumption but it is dangerous at the same time.
